After that, she relocated from Dallas to Chicago in 2009 to study at The Second City Training Center to study acting. Career in 2014, Tolman starred in the first episode of FX the black comedy crime show Fargo. Fargo is a remake of 1996 Coen brother's film by the same name. Starring the veteran cast of Bob Odenkirk, Martin Freeman as well as Billy Bob Thornton. Tolman's performance as Minnesota cop Molly Solverson was praised by Vanity Fair, who wrote: "She calmly and confidently stole the whole performance". The actress won the Critics' Choice Television Award as Best Supporting Actress for a movie/ministry, she was nominated as Best Actress at both the Emmy Awards & Golden Globes for her role. In the same year it was revealed that Tolman is scheduled to make a guest role on the Mindy Project on the show as Abby Berman who is a romance writer. In 2015, she played the role of a support of Michael Dougherty s comedy horror film Krampus. After her breakthrough role on Fargo, Tolman declined several roles as moms wives, best friends and mothers in search of a more unusual role. Tolman played the role of a woman in ABC's Downward Dog in 2017, inspired by Animal Media Group's web series. The show was cancelled after one season. Tolman starred on the ABC drama Emergence. The series premiered on September 24, 2019, and ended after one season, on May 21, 2021, even though Tolman tweeted that it received "pretty decent" ratings. Guest appearances she made for NBC Good Girls were also mentioned as sources. She played Alma Filcott during the second year of Why Women Kill. Natalie Green played the Facts of Life in Live in Front of a Studio Audience 3rd Edition.
